In a new memoir, former White House press secretary Scott McClellan became the first Bush administration official to confirm the orchestrated deception reported in the Center for Public Integrity's project, Iraq: The War Card, which highlighted 935 false statements made by President George W. Bush and seven other top officials, including McClellan, in the two years following September 11, 2001.
In his upcoming book, What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception, McClellan writes that "top Bush aides had outlined a strategy for carefully orchestrating the coming campaign to aggressively sell the war. . . . In the permanent campaign era, it was all about manipulating sources of public opinion to the president's advantage."
McClellan goes on to claim that his own comments in the White House briefing room were "badly misguided." According to The War Card's database, McClellan made 14 false statements, including: "We do not need any more proof that Saddam Hussein possesses and is willing to use chemical and biological weapons," and "We are confident that we will uncover the full extent of Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction program." Although the White House previously dismissed the Center's report as not "worth spending any time on," calling it "flawed in terms of taking anything into context," McClellan’s new comments prove that the Center’s work is not only incisive, but essential to understanding this "culture of deception."
The Center will continue to deliver transparent and comprehensive reporting on issues and stories that matter — but we need your help to continue to release important projects, like Iraq: The War Card. Please make a generous donation to the Center today to support this project and help the Center continue its critical investigations!

War profits taint the greedy hands of more than 25% of members of the US House and Senate!
http://www.chycho.com/?q=node/1721
- “What do war, Congressmen, Senators, and the defense/offense industry
have in common? The answer, if you haven’t already guessed is
‘profits.’ Conflict makes money for the military industrial complex,
and the cronies they place in Congress, the Senate, and the White
House.“An investigation by Ralph Forbes from American Free press reported
on May 05, 2008 that more than a quarter of US senators and congressmen
have invested at least $196 million of their own money in companies
doing business with the Department of Defense (DoD) that profit from
the death and destruction in Iraq.“The report also edifies that 151 members of congress invested close
to a quarter-billion dollars in companies that received defense
contracts of at least $5 million in 2006. These companies got more than
275.6 billion from the government in 2006, or $755 million per day,
according to Fedspending.org. In 2004, the first full year after the
current Iraq war began, Republican and Democratic lawmakers-both hawks
and doves invested between $74.9 million and 161.3 million in companies
under contract with the DoD. No wonder the Democratic congress kept
approving the enormous spending bills on the war, since a significant
portion of it happens to end up in their deep pockets.”

In case you’ve been living under a rock with neither internet nor cable access, you might’ve missed this recently unearthed clip of Bill O’Reilly experiencing, um, technical difficulties on the set of Inside Edition during his pre-FOX days. It’s good to see that the fame and fortune he gained from The O’Reilly Factor really hasn’t changed him that much — he’s still the same unhinged, unstable, belligerent blowhard he was when he had hair, and I’m sure tantrums like this date back to his infancy. And this guy actually thinks he’s an authority on raising kids?
O’Reilly has tried to laugh this off, but there’s plenty more fun to be had. In solidarity with his idol, Stephen Colbert released a clip of one of his own past freakouts, and Keith Olbermann invited an O’Reilly-type body language expert (actually Stacy Grenrock Woods of the Daily Show) to talk about BOR’s dictatorial body language “mostly seen by your Benito Mussolinis, your General Pinochets.” Some terrific remixes of BOR’s meltdown have started surfacing, like this hilarious one from Barely Political, and even a dance remix.
So we at FOX ATTACKS! thought we’d invite all of you to submit your own O’Reilly Tantrum remixes! As you can see from the clips above, there are a lot of directions you could take this, so go for whatever you think is the funniest and most entertaining. You can find a downloadable Quicktime version of the original clip here — the rest is up to you!
When you have finished your video, post it on YouTube and paste the URL into a comment in this blog. Once we have enough videos, we’ll put them on a page where everyone can view them and vote on them. There will be prizes for winners in multiple categories (TBD).
Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!
