Eloquence may set fire to reason. --Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

We are not afraid to follow truth wherever it may lead, nor to tolerate any error so long as reason is left free to combat it.

The most fortunate of us, in our journey through life, frequently meet with calamities and misfortunes which may greatly afflict us; and, to fortify our minds against the attacks of these calamities and misfortunes, should be one of the principal studies and endeavours of our lives. The only method of doing this is to assume a perfect resignation to the Divine will, to consider that whatever does happen, must happen; and that by our uneasiness, we cannot prevent the blow before it does fall, but we may add to its force after it has fallen. These considerations, and others such as these, may enable us in some measure to surmount the difficulties thrown in our way; to bear up with a tolerable degree of patience under this burthen of life; and to proceed with a pious and unshaken resignation, till we arrive at our journey’s end, when we may deliver up our trust into the hands of him who gave it, and receive such reward as to him shall seem proportioned to our merit. Such, dear Page, will be the language of the man who considers his situation in this life, and such should be the language of every man who would wish to render that situation as easy as the nature of it will admit. Few things will disturb him at all: nothing will disturb him much.

"One of the Senate's leading hawks, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), took to the Senate floor Thursday to fire back at Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), saying the Kentuckian's rant against extrajudicial drone killings was "simply false."*

Watch the entire interview with Abbie Cornish on Democracy Now! at http://bit.ly/WXgxqo. Actress Abbie Cornish, who recently finished filming the latest version of "Robocop," explains why she was drawn to the new independent feature film, "The Girl."

ABBIE CORNISH: These are all people, like David [Riker] just mentioned, that have left their children, their wives, and it's heartbreaking. And they have nothing, they've left everything behind to try to build a better life for their families. And they're human beings just the same as yourself or myself, it's just they've been dealt different cards in life.

AMY GOODMAN: Why'd you decide to do this independent film about this critical issue?

ABBIE CORNISH: I think the script was beautifully written and the story was so strong. I loved that it is a political film, but it's told on a very intimate scale. I was very much drawn to this character's evolution, from the dark, from a place from regret and sort of anger and sort of, you know, someone who feels like life has kind of not treated them so well. They're very angry at life into the light, into motherhood, into herself. And connecting with herself, because i think that's an amazing journey to go on and I think we all go on that journey in some way. And I love that journey into the light as well. I wanted to portray that story, give people a little bit of hope. and then also I met David, and as soon as I met him I just knew it'd be an incredible experience to make the film with him.

oppt_logo - Have you been hearing a lot lately about the OPPT, or One People's Public Trust?
In the last few weeks, there has been a lot of hype on the internet about this latest "people's movement", but before jumping on the bandwagon, think about it and investigate carefully. Don’t join or trust anything just because others have either. Be sovereign and conscious.
Remember, meteoric rising movements with little or no opposition are almost always planted. Otherwise they would get nowhere and in a hurry.
Investigate and stay conscious. Don’t let your emotions run away with you. We are having an amazing effect on world consciousness and behavior and it’s growing exponentially, whatever methods of expression you use. Just be sure something you invest your heart and energy in isn’t a diversion.
