Honor your dead fellow countrymen by learning to spell. And when you're proficient enough, then learn to read, and use that skill to read about that war, how it started, why it went on so long, how it ended, and the period of history it happened in. It wasn't the same as today - it was during the Cold War. And who do you mean by "we" anyway? You're still alive aren't you? No soldier has fought to protect American's rights since 1812. There has never been a free speech war. In communist countries the state owns all capital, including land. In the US the government owns the land (don't pay your rent (tax) & title reverts to gov't. While we do vote, we only vote in rigged elections and generally choose between the lesser of two evils. We don't have state run media, but we do have corporate media that panders to the state for access & delivers the party line.
