Two chickehawks in the bush are better than....one in the whitehouse
Demagogue,
n (plural dem·a·gogues) 1. emotive dictator: a political leader who gains power by appealing to people's emotions and prejudices rather than their rationality.
I know they don't put pictures in the dictionary but if they did republicans and democrats faces would be next to this word. We have misunderstood, misread, misplanned and mismanaged our honorable intentions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Iran, Yemen, Somalia, Lebanon, entire south America, Cuba...... with an arrogant self-delusion reminiscent of Vietnam. I happen to believe that by 2012, this country is going to be ready for some people to talk very clearly, plainly — not frighten them, not demagogue them, but say it straight, say it honest. This is a ping-pong game with American livesand those innocent ones flee or killed to make way for this economically manufactured war machine.
These young men and women that we deploy on others sovereign soil that possess valuable natural and human resources(american corporate interest, not u.s. citizens interest), are not beans. They're real lives. And we better be damn sure we know what we're doing, all of us, especially after we put 22,000 more Americans into that grinder. Many of those who want to rush this country into war and think it would be so quick and easy don't know anything about war. They come at it from an intellectual perspective, versus having sat in jungles or foxholes and watched their friends get their heads blown off.
Chickenhawk(n, pronounced chi-ken-shit): used in the u s to criticize a politician, bureaucrat, or commentator who strongly supports a war or other military action, but has never personally been in a war, especially if that person is perceived to have actively avoided military service when of draft age.
We know who the chicken hawks are. They talk tough on national defense and military issues and cast aspersions on others, When it was their turn to serve where were they? AWOL, that's where they were...the lead chickenhawk…. the GOP presidential-vice nominess of the United States. President Obama.
There is nothing brave, resolute, nor virtuous about advocating military action from afar while suffering personally no costs and/or consequences. It is, in fact, a very easy argument to make from afar when one does not have any combat experience. When the U.S. military has difficulties in recruiting soldiers and Marines (like today) the refusal of prominent war supporters even to encourage their eligible relatives and friends, their circles of influence, to consider volunteering for military service, calls into question their integrity. If the war is so important, why are only "other people" actually fighting it? George W. Bush and obama has helped those who have most, hurt those who have least and ignored everyone in between. The mark of leadership is not to stand up when everybody is standing, but rather to actually stand up when no one else is standing.
I have to honestly admit that I am ashamed at the behavior of Americas top leadership. Maybe I am paranoid, but I don't feel too comfortable exercising my constitutional first amendment right of free speech by criticizing the chickenhawks in our government. Afraid five masked men may burst into my home, handcuff me, put a black hood over my head, whisk me off to the airport, put me on a plane bound for a Turkish prison never to be heard from again.
A special thanks to sen. Chuck Hagel and general Wesley Clark for their contributions to this blog today….so, g-men, if you come after me, be sure and get the senator and general too, be nice to have intelligent company since I don't associate with chicken shh….uh hawks.
Volunteers today, are recruited from a vast poll of poverty born out of economic necessity, patriotism is limited to the appeal of being part of a team, not the security of a nation, especially from a nation that needs protection from our own lawmakers and enforcers ie the government. If you haven't noticed the jack-booted along with the brown or black shirted here, in every state, you are not looking and conditioned to filter out and not think about all the noise in our visual and audio environment......if the American stormtroopers here in the states turn on our own people, spraying pepper, clubbing and arresting those exercising the free speech right to redress the government to have majority popular issues resolved; just think what is being done to those countries America is occupying, unreported because of the dead journalist syndrome, cause truth reporting blacklists; deaths.totaling millions in the last ten years. State writes the history feeding propaganda, foisting insane polices, defies rational behavior, and insults the collectives intelligence on a macro level.
Post script, I am a Vietnam-era vet 1975-1981, infantry scout 11D-64c, 1/9 air cav. First cavalry division, 2nd infantry division(mec) 11c,1/31 combat support, 4th armor division 11er8 4/40 armor(combat support) I was ready to bleed, to die for my country if that is what it took, unlike who? And, oh yes, when did we start measuring character with dollars in place of deeds? I missed that civics class.
