The news beneath the news...
By Russ Baker on Oct 9, 2013
What
possible connection could there have been between George H.W. Bush
and the assassination of John F. Kennedy? Or between the C.I.A. and
the assassination? Or between Bush and the C.I.A.? For some people,
apparently, making such connections was as dangerous as letting one live
wire touch another. Here, in anticipation of the 50th anniversary
of the JFK assassination in November, is the first part of a ten-part
series of excerpts from WhoWhatWhy editor Russ Baker's bestseller,
Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America's Invisible Government and
the Hidden History of the Last Fifty Years. In this installment, we
examine Barbara Bush's memoirs and how they attempt fill in the record
for her husband's memory gaps regarding his whereabouts during the
Kennedy assassination.

While this video is satire, there are real-world
examples of this tactic working. Former Republican Congressman Bob
Inglis attributed his transformation on climate change to encouragement
from his son. Retired Republican Senator John Warner said that his
late-career commitment to climate change was in part due to concern for
his children and grandchildren. Our voices can make a difference so
please share this to help us expose these deniers and make them change!
I have to tell you, it makes me furious when I think about how more
than 100 people are allowed to serve as members of Congress even though
they don’t accept that human activity is causing climate change. And it makes my blood boil
to know that Congress could take action to address climate change if
these Big Oil-backed legislators weren’t standing in the way.
But
I’ve come to realize that getting mad just isn’t going to be enough if
we really want to see congressional action to curb global warming. We
have to make these deniers change.
Luckily, we have found a secret weapon to use against these climate change deniers: their kids!
And with the help of longtime environmentalist and actor Adrian
Grenier, we now have a video showing how it works. Check it out:
(If you can’t see the image above, just go here to watch the video: http://www.lcv.org/ScienceFairNightmare )
Climate
change-denying members of Congress are an embarrassment to all of us.
But if we expose how extreme and out of touch they are with their
constituents and their own children, they can change. So I hope you’ll watch and share this funny video today!

Free and Equal Elections Foundation hosted the 2012 “3rd Party” Presidential debates that were moderated by Larry King and Thom Hartmann and viewed by an estimated 20 million people. I’ve left Free & Equal, but I have even bigger plans moving forward. I believe that with laying the groundwork down now, we can create debates that are viewed by far more than 20 million people and really compete on a national stage.
