"What was the message of [the]
Enlightenment intellectuals? What were their ideals? They believed that
unassisted human reason, not faith or tradition, was the principal guide
to human conduct. ...Everything, including political and religious
authority, must be subject to a critique of reason if it were to commend
itself to the respect of humanity." Isaac Kramnick
“I have sometimes been ready to think
that the passion for Liberty cannot be Eaquelly Strong in the Breasts of
those who have been accustomed to deprive their fellow Creatures of
theirs. Of this I am certain that it is not founded upon that generous
and christian principal of doing to others as we would that others
should do unto us. Abigail Adams
"[A] wise and frugal Government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicities."

Greetings citizens of the world, we are Anonymous. For many years now, we have warned the citizens of the world about the threats that government pose to the freedoms of the internet. Over this period of time many people have woken up to the lies told by government officials and now understand the importance of keeping the internet open and free for all to use.
The events that have transpired over the recent days have proven, indisputably, that the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom are trying with all effort possible to monitor the internet. You might ask us, if not to fight terrorism, what are they looking for? The governments of the world are corrupted to the core, by greed and lust, intoxicated by power, they fear losing this power to the people. Let us look at this secret spy system: Prism, and its apparent effectiveness. It has failed to stop terrorism, but has succeeded in monitoring everyone in the world, even law abiding citizens. It is true that there are evil people in this world who must be watched to ensure the safety of others, but it is simply immoral and unethical to blanket monitor everyone worldwide, assuming that everyone must be guilty of something.
Edward Snowden is a true hero of the people worldwide for revealing this. In stepping forward to bring us the horrifying truth about the draconian state secretly operating, he has put his life on the line, he has given up his job with the government, he has lost his family and loved ones, he now risks extradition and life sentencing to prison, merely for telling us that each and every one of us is being watched, monitored, documented, recorded and categorized.
The fact that companies like Microsoft, Facebook and Google are involved, means that a significant amount of the internet as we know it is under inspection. The right to privacy has been violated. People are in greater danger from this surveillance system than they are from terrorism, because the terrorists have not been stopped.
What we are witnessing, is the hand of the government, and corporate greed, extending over the internet.
A smear campaign is beginning against Snowden now. This is to be expected. When government is threatened with the loss of power or control, they will use any means required to ensure that the view of the public supports them, instead of the evidence which has come to light. This is done through the media, already they are calling Edward Snowden a traitor, a supporter of terrorism or even just creating doubt over his motives, these are common methods seen used against every person who has ever revealed the truth against the state.
The corporations which have been revealed as taking part in PRISM are now also scrambling to defend their names, releasing so called information on why their user's privacy is important. You must ask yourself, if they had done nothing wrong, they would not go to such extreme lengths to change public perception. It is up to us, the people to see through these lies being told. We must stand with Edward Snowden, and fight back on all fronts against the big brother state.
Many say they have nothing to hide. But this is beside the point. If you have nothing to hide, why should you be watched? If someone broke into your home and read through your documents and private data, you would feel violated and angered. Why should your digital information be exempt from this? The only difference with online spying is that you remain unaware that it is happening; otherwise you would become just as angered towards it. And this is why governments fight to keep us from knowing the truth. You only have to scratch the surface before the lies become visible.
Citizens of the world, users of the internet. Show your support for support for Edward Snowden, Edward Snowden is now under the protection of anonymous worldwide. We are all Edward Snowden now. We urge you to remain peaceful, but to rise, now is the time to say enough. We call for massive disobedience towards the big brother state. We invite you to be Anonymous, we must act together worldwide for the cause of internet privacy. Anonymous has no leader, no ranking and no single means of communication; we are spread of many mediums and languages. Research methods of defending your online presence, join with us for the freedom of the internet.
We are anonymous.
We are legion. We are everyone. We are everywhere.
We do not forgive.
We do not forget.
Expect us.

The USA PATRIOT Act (H.R. 3162)
defines domestic terrorism in Section 802 (p. 105) as acts “dangerous
to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United
States or any State.” More specifically, these acts must “appear to be
intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population; to influence the
policy of a government by intimidation or coercion; or to affect the
conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination or
kidnapping; and occur primarily within the territorial jurisdiction of
the United States.”
The first version of the Patriot Act was signed into law on by President Bush on October 26, 2001. Since then it was reauthorized and extended by President Bush in 2005, and then again by President Obama in May 2010. Though the law has slightly changed, its definition of domestic terrorism has not.
Meanwhile, the FBI has a slightly different definition of domestic terrorism:
“Domestic
terrorism is the unlawful use, or threatened use, of force or violence
by a group of individuals based and operated entirely within the United
States or Puerto Rico without foreign direction committed against
persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian
population, or any segment thereof in furtherance of political or social
objectives.”
The 9/11 attacks, for instance, would not fall
under the category of domestic terrorism, but would rather be described
as “international terrorism."
In general, terrorists seek
to bring fundamental change to a nation or society. Terrorists often
believe that political, social and cultural change can only come about
by instilling fear in the population. It is for this reason that Danny
Davis, director of the certificate program in homeland security at the
Bush School of Government and Public Service claims,
“[Terrorism] is not a cause, not a movement, not an enemy. It’s a tactic.”
Given America’s recent history and the ongoing War on Terror, a common misconception is that terrorism is a recent phenomenon. Though modern terrorism is far more lethal, the tactic has been around for a long time. For instance, the Boston Tea Party was an organized event designed to destroy vast amounts of property in order to effect political change among the colonies.
In that respect, it can be argued that this tactic for change used in
1774 was quite similar to, for example, that used by the Environmental
Liberation Front (ELF) today.
One of the more common motives for terrorism is religion.
Comprising such a vital aspect of many people’s lives, religion has
proved to be the “trigger” for terrorism among the most extreme
adherents. Currently, the FBI recognizes, among others, Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Mormon terror groups in the United States.
At times connected to religious beliefs, racial prejudice has also been the inspiration for domestic terrorist attacks. The cause for political change
– some calling for more government action, others calling for less –
has spurned numerous terror attacks, including several high-profile
incidents in recent years.
Though racial and religious sentiments are
historically recognized as the main impetus behind acts of terror in the
United States, political terrorism has become the most prevalent form
in recent decades. Within the political spectrum of domestic terrorism,
some of the most common causes include the environment, civil liberty
defense, labor issues, and other volatile social issues.
There have been some acts of terror that do not
really fall into any of these categories. An individual's or group's
message can be difficult to determine. Other times there may be an
element of insanity, though criminals usually give some sort of
alternative motive. Yet, many have made the case that all acts of
terrorism contain a distinct element of insanity. Some claim that acts of brutality experienced or witnessed during childhood are common among terrorists. More modern psychologists, seen in this detailed report, take a much more holistic approach to determining the roots of terrorism.
