“Too many people spend money they earned..to buy things they don’t want..to impress people that they don’t like.” ― Will Rogers
“If you end up with a boring miserable life because you listened to your mom, your dad, your teacher, your priest, or some guy on television telling you how to do your shit, then you deserve it.” ― Frank Zappa
“When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not yet ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back. A week is more than enough time for us to decide whether or not to accept our destiny.” ― Paulo Coelho
True Anarchism
Humanities great spiritual leaders all share the gift of giving; never expecting the greatest of giving would fill humanities spiritual void of apathy, indifference and selfish cruelty...and the one gift to combat spiritual suicide is to never expect reciprocation nor recognition.
Those who commit random acts of kindness so as to impress others. Those who would take note of an unselfish gesture only to be noticed have really damaged their soul doubly. Sort of like the guy that prays just a little too loud behind me in church....nice prayers, but that is between him and God; not everyone within the west wing whom also have business with the creator feel the need to share so loudly or so publicly, some of us like to keep private mine and Gods secretes.
One of my favorite prayers is quite simple, the foxhole prayer: Oh shit! help me God!! works good, effective, I am still here, with grace and dignity and some soiled underwear
This shift to a new reality is difficult to be altruistically sincere unless the behavior becomes habit..then easy and enlightening for them that do care and are willing to step out side social convention's comfort zone (conformity) and experience consciousnesses from a perspective void of religious doctrinal interpretation that moor the ignorant to superstitions that would otherwise have been abandoned long ago in search of saner waters. None of us have to do anything extraordinary to be noticed for good deeds, only consistent and sincere.
Do the right thing when no one else is looking....the universe is watching, telling the truth is me against the cosmos, the infinite justice sees all, remembers all: forgets nothing.

The war on whistleblowers and journalism
Discussing press freedoms with Julian Assange, David Coombs, Alexa O'Brien and others
Glenn Greenwaldtheguardian.com
I'm working on several stories, so posting this week will be
difficult. Until then, below is the video of the 90-minute event I did
this week at the Sydney Opera House on the war on whistleblowers and
journalism, along with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, Chelsea
Manning's lawyer David Coombs, the intrepid independent journalist Alexa
O'Brien, and the Australian commentator Robert Manne, hosted by the
Australian writer Bernard Keane. It was a great discussion and really
covered in a broad way many of the issues discussed here over the last
year, especially the last several months (I dropped out for roughly 25
minutes after I first spoke due to some technical difficulties with the
video feed but returned to participate actively in the rest of the
discussion).
Two related notes: 1) John Cusack has an excellent Op-Ed in the Guardian from yesterday on many of these same topics; 2) Mark Weisbrot has a helpful analysis of the fallout from the extraordinary cancellation by Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff of the state dinner planned at the White House for October due to NSA surveillance, and McClatchy has good background on what happened there and why.

Why Many Former East Germans Don't Vote
Nearly a quarter of a century after German reunification, Chancellor
Angela Merkel still favors dishes that were common in the former German
Democratic Republic (GDR). "Solyanka," a sour soup with meat and pickled
vegetables originating in Russia, still appears regularly on her dinner
table, and likely those of many former East Germans.

.............................................................................................While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies. His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance. ‘Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you. ‘No problem, just let me in,' says the man. ‘Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.
‘Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the senator. ‘I’m sorry, but we have our rules. ‘And with that, St.Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.
Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly & nice guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.
Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator raises...The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him. ‘Now it's time to visit heaven. ‘So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns. ‘Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity. ‘The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.
‘So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in bags as more trash falls from above. The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder.
'I don't understand,' stammers the senator. 'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.
What happened?
‘The devil looks at him, smiles and says, 'Yesterday we were campaigning....Today you voted.'

ANARCHY.
Ever reviled, accursed, ne'er understood,
Thou art the grisly terror of our age.
"Wreck of all order," cry the multitude,
"Art thou, and war and murder's endless rage."
O, let them cry. To them that ne'er have striven
The truth that lies behind a word to find,
To them the word's right meaning was not given.
They shall continue blind among the blind.
But thou, O word, so clear, so strong, so pure,
Thou sayest all which I for goal have taken.
I give thee to the future! Thine secure
When each at least unto himself shall waken.
Comes it in sunshine? In the tempest's thrill?
I cannot tell--but it the earth shall see!
I am an Anarchist! Wherefore I will
Not rule, and also ruled I will not be!
JOHN HENRY MACKAY.

JOHN HENRY MACKAY.
THE history of human growth and development is at the same time the history of the terrible struggle of every new idea heralding the approach of a brighter dawn. In its tenacious hold on tradition, the Old has never hesitated to make use of the foulest and cruelest means to stay the advent of the New, in whatever form or period the latter may have asserted itself. Nor need we retrace our steps into the distant past to realize the enormity of opposition, difficulties, and hardships placed in the path of every progressive idea. The rack, the thumbscrew, and the knout are still with us; so are the convict's garb and the social wrath, all conspiring against the spirit that is serenely marching on.
Anarchism could not hope to escape the fate of all other ideas of innovation. Indeed, as the most revolutionary and uncompromising innovator, Anarchism must needs meet with the combined ignorance and venom of the world it aims to reconstruct.
To deal even remotely with all that is being said and done against Anarchism would necessitate the writing of a whole volume. I shall therefore meet only two of the principal objections. In so doing, I shall attempt to elucidate what Anarchism really stands for.
The strange phenomenon of the opposition to Anarchism is that it brings to light the relation between so-called intelligence and ignorance. And yet this is not so very strange when we consider the relativity of all things. The ignorant mass has in its favor that it makes no pretense of knowledge or tolerance. Acting, as it always does, by mere impulse, its reasons are like those of a child. "Why?" "Because." Yet the opposition of the uneducated to Anarchism deserves the same consideration as that of the intelligent man.
What, then, are the objections? First, Anarchism is impractical, though a beautiful ideal. Second, Anarchism stands for violence and destruction, hence it must be repudiated as vile and dangerous. Both the intelligent man and the ignorant mass judge not from a thorough knowledge of the subject, but either from hearsay or false interpretation.
