If you’re rooting for Israel, you might have seen videos of
rocket launches by Hamas adjacent to Shifa Hospital. Alternatively, if you’re pro-Palestinian, you might have seen
the following report on an alleged IDF sniper who admitted on Instagram to murdering 13 Gazan children.
While war rages on the ground in Gaza and across Israeli skies,
there’s an all-out information war unraveling in social networked
spaces.
Israelis and their proponents are likely to see
IDF videos such as this one detailing
arms and tunnels found within mosques passed around in their social
media feeds, while Palestinian groups are likely to pass around
images displaying the sheer destruction caused by IDF forces to Gazan mosques. One side sees videos of
rockets intercepted in the Tel-Aviv skies, and other sees the
lethal aftermath of a missile attack on a Gazan neighborhood.
The better we get at modeling user preferences, the more accurately
we construct recommendation engines that fully capture user attention.
In a way, we are building personalized propaganda engines that feeds
users content which makes them feel good and throws away the
uncomfortable bits.
We used to be able to hold media accountable for misinforming the public. Now we only have ourselves to blame.
Personalizing propaganda
Not only is there much more media produced, but it is coming at us at
a faster pace, from many more sources. As we construct our online
profiles based on what we already know, what we’re interested in, and
what we’re recommended, social networks are perfectly designed to
reinforce our existing beliefs. Personalized spaces, optimized for
engagement, prioritize content that is likely to generate more traffic;
the more we click, share, like, the higher engagement tracked on the
service.
Content that makes us uncomfortable, is filtered out.

has been sent to Jim Stone's web site by an anonymous doctor who has
worked with Ebola.
Consider this: The elite would never release a
plague without an easy cure, and along with this Ebola outbreak, an
American bio-warfare firm has been working in Sierra Leon for the last
five years. Sierra Leon has actually identified them as the perpetrators
of this outbreak and kicked them out of the country. There is
absolutely no doubt this outbreak was intentionally caused by the U.S.
war department.
And if it is intentional, a cure is known. There would simply be no other way to do business.
Here
is the treatment, complete with MOA. This is a treatment and not a
cure. The immune system wipes out the virus, and the treatment gives the

seen. Our massive climate day of action already has 350,000 Avaazers

Recently,
President Obama told the New York Times that when it comes to climate
change: “‘With public opinion there’s nothing I cannot do, and without
public opinion there’s nothing I can get done.” Our political
representatives across the globe are not yet convinced that enough
people are concerned about climate change. This massive day of climate
action on September 21 is one of our best opportunities to show the
world’s most powerful leaders that the public stands with them for
ambitious climate action. For that, we need the climate movement to have
a growth spurt. We need more people than ever before to demonstrate the rising tide of demand for action.
Polls
show that most people believe climate change is a serious threat, but
our politicians have yet to feel the heat from a people’s movement that
will force them to act. This video will be a central part of a global
media strategy including massive subway ads, online ads, celebrity
engagement and media partnerships to help inspire everyone to march on September 21st and begin the momentum for major shifts in how our leaders protect our planet.

than 800 American military personnel have already been deployed to Iraq, increasing the chance of our country getting dragged

Congress is listening. Right before August, with an overwhelming, bipartisan 370-40 vote, the House passed a
resolution sending a strong message against another Iraq war.2

This letter-writing effort is the latest in the campaign to stop another Iraq war: we'll flood local newspapers in communities

A pot legalization initiative in D.C. gathered twice the number of required signatures.

Despite
Congress’ wishes, the residents of the nation’s capital
already decriminalized marijuana,
treating small amounts of possession similar to a parking violation
with a fine. Now the District may be about to follow Colorado and
Washington state and legalize it altogether.
More than 57,000 DC voters, organized by the lobby group
DC Cannabis, signed a petition to get a pot legalization initiative
(Initiative 71) onto the upcoming ballot. That’s more than double the
number of signatures required, so today the DC Board of Elections ruled
that the initiative is valid and will appear on the November ballot.
It has a good chance of passing, since polls show more than 60 percent of DC voters in favor of legalization.
As with alcohol, the new law would allow adults 21 and over
to use marijuana. It would also allow those adults to possess up to two
ounces of marijuana and cultivate a maximum of six marijuana
plants—though only three of those plants can be fully mature.
Unlike alcohol (and unlike pot in WA and CO), the current
initiative fails to address how DC would tax and regulate the newly
legal substance. So, the DC Council is considering a second bill that
would tax and regulate the sale of marijuana.
